Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens in Glasgow is a world-famous public park in the West End of the city. The gardens were first opened in 1817 and have been used for a wide range of concerts, plays and other public events. There are several glasshouses that are open to visitors, the best known of which is Kibble Palace. This beautiful wrought-iron construction was designed by John Kibble in the 1860s and moved to the Botanic Gardens in 1873. It is used for cultivating temperate plants, especially Australian and New Zealand tree ferns.

The Botanic Gardens are situated on the banks of the River Kelvin and offer delightful nature walks by the river or in the woodlands, along with a heritage trail containing over 30 points of interest, all just a stone's throw from the heart of Glasgow. The gardens are open to the public free of charge all year round from 7am daily. Refreshments are available throughout the day at the Botanics Cafe by the main gate and in the recently opened tearooms.
