SSE Hydro

The SSE Hydro arena is an extension of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre which opened in September 2013. It has a capacity of 12,0000, making it the largest entertainment venue in Scotland. It offers an impressive line-up of entertainment, music and sporting events, such as the MTV Europe Music Awards, Kylie Minogue, the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Lady Gaga. Ultimately, the Hydro plans to attract 1 million visitors per year.

Designed by the firm of the renowned architect Norman Foster, the Hydro is completely covered in translucent panels, which can be illuminated at night. The location of the venue on the banks of the River Clyde means that this 45m tall building has already become a clearly visible landmark that is also well serviced by the city's transport system. The interior of the building offers a number of refreshment facilities for visitors and the design of the arena allows several different seating configurations.
