University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is the oldest university in the city, founded in 1451. It is one of Scotland's four ancient universities, along with the University of Saint Andrews, the University of Aberdeen and the University of Edinburgh. It is internationally recognised and regularly features in the top 100 universities in the world and in the top 10 UK universities.

Originally located on the High Street in Glasgow, the main campus of Glasgow University has been located at Gilmorehill, in Hillhead in the West End since 1870. There are also outposts at Bearsden and Dumfries and the School of Dentistry is in the City Centre. The University offers a wide range of courses in four colleges which each contain several schools: the College of Arts, the College of Medicine, Veterinary and Life Sciences, the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Social Sciences.
